OXIPRO Showcases Marine Biocatalysts at Biocatalysis Conference in San Sebastián

Researchers from the OXIPRO.EU project, including members from the University of Barcelona and NORCE Norwegian Research Center, recently participated in the IV Jornadas Españolas de Biocatálisis held in San Sebastián. This biennial event, organized by SEBIOT, brings together experts in biocatalysis to discuss recent advances and innovative applications in the field. The objectives of these conferences are to disseminate scientific advances in the use of enzymes in chemical applications and also to promote industrial developments based on biocatalysis through dialogue with the business sector.

During the conference, the OXIPRO team presented posters that highlighted their latest work in enzyme development, marine bioprospecting, and applications in sustainable industry. The presentations provided attendees with insights into OXIPRO’s contributions to the field, showcasing progress toward using marine biocatalysts for greener industrial processes. The posters are now accessible to the public on the OXIPRO website.

Reflecting on the event, Prof. Marina Guillén Montalbán – Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona shared, “It was inspiring to connect with so many expert professionals dedicated to harnessing biocatalysis for sustainable innovation. Collaborations like these remind us of the incredible potential our field holds for addressing some of the most pressing environmental challenges.”
